04-Jun-2009
The
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has
welcomed the news that London has retained its position as Europe’s most attractive city to invest
in.
The findings, in Ernst & Young’s latest Country Attractiveness Survey, show how the capital secured 262 projects in 2008 with closest rivals, Paris and Madrid, obtaining 222 and 80 projects respectively.London, along with New York, is seen as the clear leader with the capacity to rebound from the current economic downturn. The report cites the capital as a cluster of education, entrepreneurship and opportunities, drawing the most able talent from around the world.
The Mayor said: “These findings concur with a number of reports this week, which suggest that the recession might be beginning to ease.
"A key priority of mine throughout the past year has been to shout from the rooftops at every opportunity that London is the place to invest in and to visit. It also confirms that our work of ‘ selling’ London broad is paying off and our city is both winning through these tough times and looking forward to an extremely bright future.”
